The research activities of the Centre encompass different topics. Each activity is coordinated by two convenors (one being an archaeologist or art-historian and one a scientist) in order to ensure the maximum interdisciplinarity.
The topics are: - Diagnostics in Archaeology Archaeology and paleoenvironment - Geophysical prospections - Stone materials - Ceramics, glasses and metals (Convenors: M. Torelli and A. Sgamellotti). - Integrated art-historical/scientific studies on panel paintings and sculptures. Panel paintings and wooden sculptures - Glazed ceramic sculptures - Microbiological impact on art-historical objects (Convenors: F. F. Mancini and B. G. Brunetti). - Application of new technologies to art-historical artefacts Studies by synchrotron light and neutron beams - New microbiological methodologies - Magnetic techniques (Convenors: B. G. Brunetti and G. Poli). - New portable instrumentation Portable micro-fluorimetry - Portable system for UV-vis fluorescence decay-time - Portable system for microbiological monitoring (Convenors: F. Bistoni and A. Sgamellotti).
